Both Parties Exploit Americans with Omnibus

By Jennifer Hill

Wednesday afternoon the US House of Representatives quietly passed the latest omnibus package. The massive spending bill received very little discussion or coverage with all cameras instead focused on Ukraine. The Representatives themselves received the 2,741 pages of text mere hours before voting on the $1.5 trillion package. The bill is, of course, full of lots of erroneous spending, much of it in foreign countries. If this isn’t a wake-up call that our two party system is broken, that neither the Republicans or the Democrats care to put you first, even when it really matters, I’m not sure we’ll ever get the message.

Our nation sits at a time of looming economic crisis. Decades of poor policies from the Federal Reserve, money printing to cover the gaping wound of pandemic policy caused economic bleeding, and absolutely inane domestic energy development policies have all led us to the brink of record inflation and an angst filled populous. Congress’s reaction to this? Send money overseas of course!

Ukraine

The US government knows to never let a good crisis go to waste, which is why we are officially set to send $13.6 billion to Ukraine in the form of weapons, humanitarian aid and to deploy troops into the region. But don’t worry, we aren’t going to war, right?

Israel

The omnibus package also includes a major win for the nation of Israel who come out with a pretty $4.8 billion deal, including an “emergency” $1 billion for the Iron Dome, $3.3 billion in security assistance and another $500 million in defense partnerships.

But do not fret, there’s plenty of spending left over for bad domestic programs too. The government can’t let Hollywood, professional sports and the Olympics be the only ones to experience ‘get woke, go broke’.

Violence Against Women

$575 million will go to reauthorizing the Violence Against Women Act. What exactly those funds will do is still murky, with statements like, “prevention and prosecution programs”.

Student Aid

$24.6 billion in student aid, up by $35 million from 2021. Because what this country needs at this time of crisis is more young adults prepared to enter the workforce with their liberal arts degree instead of knowledge of a true labor related skill.

Climate Justice

$3.2 billion will go to the Office of Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy, up more than $338 million from last year. Just under $1 million was set aside for “Grid Resilience and Equity in Energy Transition” research, geared at fixing perceived racism in the energy grid. Another $500,000 is earmarked to Worcester State University to increase diversity in STEM students studying climate change.

Equitable Shellfish

Yes, you read that right. $1.6 million in taxpayer money will go to the “development of equitable growth of shellfish aquaculture in Rhode Island”.

As American’s continue to swallow down panic every time they hit the gas station or grocery store our elected leaders decided the best thing to do with the tax funds they take from us is send them overseas and dump them into woke programs at home. Various pieces of the bill were supported by politicians from either side, everyone looking to get their little, or big, piece of the pie to take home. Overall the bill passed on a 68-31 vote, despite the fact that not a single member of the House could have possibly read the thing before voting. Wake up America, neither side cares about you or your wallet. It’s time to stop playing party line games and blame them all.
